Robert Gordon-Fogelson is a Lecturer in Visual Culture at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Previously he was a Tyson Scholar at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. He works on twentieth-century design, architecture, and material culture with special focus on relationships between design and business, discourse and practice, and production and distribution. His dissertation, "Total Integration: Design, Business, and Society in the United States, 1935–1985," examined the centrality of "integration" as a concept to mid-twentieth-century design. His research has been supported by fellowships and grants from USC's Visual Studies Research Institute, the University of Chicago Library, the Decorative Arts Trust, the Rochester Institute of Technology, and the Hagley Center for the History of Business, Technology, and Society.
